2021 Fall Sports Youth Offerings

Dear Lower and Middle School Parents:

I am excited to share our 2021 fall youth programming offerings. Included are field hockey, flag football, rookie tackle football, golf, lacrosse, and basketball.  Each of these opportunities promises to be fun, educational, and engaging for the Hawken community.

FALL BASKETBALL CLINIC (3-8 grade boys and girls)
Fall Clinics will be led by Hawken’s Boys Varsity Head Basketball Coach, Josh Nugent, Girls Varsity Head Basketball Coach, David Murray, and their staffs.  The goal is to prepare student-athletes for the upcoming basketball season.  Sessions will focus on individual skill development and team concepts and drills.  Sessions will be run in a similar fashion to Hawken Basketball practices

Boys Sessions: Two days per week for 4 weeks on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. September 16, 18, 23, 25, 30 and October 2, 7 and 9.
3rd, 4th and 5th grade from 6-7pm on Thursday and 10-11am on Saturday
6th, 7th and 8th grade from 7-8pm on Thursday and 11-12pm on Saturday
All Sessions will be at Hawken Upper School, 12465 County Line Rd, Gates Mills (Red Gym).  However this is subject to change.

Girls Sessions:
 Two days per week for 4 weeks on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings. September 14th, 18th, 21st, 25th, 28th and October 2, 5, 9
3-8 grade from 6-7pm on Tuesday and 9-10am on Saturday
All girl’s sessions will take place at the Hawken Lyndhurst Campus 5000 Clubside Road, in the Ingalls Gym.
$160/camper for all 4 Thursday and all 4 Saturday Boys Sessions
$160/camper for all 4 Tuesday and all 4 Saturday Girls Sessions                                                
$100/camper for 4 Boys sessions
$100/camper for 4 Girls sessions
FALL FIELD HOCKEY CLINIC (4-6 grade girls)
Fall Field Hockey is open to girls from the local area. Sessions combine skills and drills in a friendly, learn-to-love-the-sport environment with ample time for scrimmaging. Participants need protective goggles, shin and mouth guards, and a stick.
One practice per week for a 7 week period from 5:00 – 6:30 pm at Hawken’s Lyndhurst campus, 5000 Clubside Road.  This is subject to change based on how many registrants we have.  Please note that practice is not the same day each week due to the Middle School game schedule.

Practice Dates: September 9, 14, 21, 28 and October 5, 11 and 19.
September 14- all youth members will be invited to attend the Middle School game at Hawken to see a live game.  At the conclusion of the game, a short practice will be held until 6:30pm.

 In October in a home and home vs Hathaway Brown – more information will be provided when finalized.

FALL GOLF CLINIC (1-6 grade boys and girls)
We are very excited to offer this 6-week co-ed after school program for your children this fall at The Clubhouse facility in Beachwood, Ohio to be held on Thursday’s. The Clubhouse is equipped with a 1,000 square foot putting/chipping green and four huge golf bays all powered by Trackman 4 - used by over 800 tour pros. Students will learn skills and match play.
Our goal for this program is that each student first and foremost has FUN with an emphasis on learning the fundamentals of the game including: putting, chipping, bunker play, pitching, full swing, rules/ etiquette, proper warmup, equipment uses, and on course play. Based on the number of kids participating, players will be divided by age and ability into three smaller groups with three coaches. 

Fall Start Date: September 23, 2021
Fall End Date: October 27, 2021

All participants must arrange their own rides this year and should arrive at The Clubhouse by 3:30 pm. Pick up time will be 5pm at The

Please make sure your child has the following:
-Signed Waiver (I will email upon registration.)
-Water Bottle
-Snack (if needed)
-Hat (for when we do on course play)
-Athletic Shoes or golf shoes if they have
-Golf Clubs (Please let me know if your child does not have golf clubs.)

**The dates above for all levels are tentative due to the ever-changing climate surrounding Covid-19.  We will share more concrete information as it becomes available. Hawken School is paying close attention to the OHSAA and state officials' recommendations and guidelines. The safety of our student-athletes and community is our first priority.
