Youth SPRING Information

NEOLAX Legion (Hawken community team)

Boys Youth Lacrosse

Our own Dan Usaj (program director of boys lacrosse), with the help of Gilmour Head Coach Jim Scully, Hawken Middle School Coach C.B Pinkerton, and Hawken Upper School lacrosse players will be leading the second year of the NEOLAX program this spring. In our first year, we had over 35 players, including 15 Hawken students. In our second year, we are excited to grow the sport of lacrosse at Hawken and in our surrounding communites.
The one basic rule for our lacrosse players, “team before me,” encompasses all we teach at NEOLAX. It requires the student/athlete to take responsibility for his actions. Our players are taught to understand that being part of a team requires consideration of the impact of their conduct on their teammates and classmates. While we applaud individual effort, we stress the responsibility inherent in playing as part of a team; in other words, placing the good of the team before individual attention or accomplishments. We stress the importance of becoming part of something that is larger than the individual. Together, we are much stronger than we are by ourselves.
Grades / Team: 3rd / 4th team (2 teams - 28 total players) 5th / 6th team (22 total players)
Cost: $250
Practices: First three Sundays in March (1- 3 pm), and then every Tuesday/Thursday in April/May, 6:00 -7:30 pm Walton Field (turf)
