Youth WINTER Information

HAWKEN YOUTH WRESTLING CLUB
Hawken School has a long and proud tradition of competitive, scholastic wrestling at the middle and high school levels.  We now have that tradition to grades 1-6 through Youth Wrestling.  This year is our eighth year for the Hawken Youth Wrestling Club.

The first day of practice will be on Tuesday, November 12. In all training and wrestling, participants will be matched by weight and experience.  Participants will learn the basics of wrestling rules, positioning, and technique in all aspects of the sport.  We expect to frequently divide instructional groups into novice and advanced.

Practices will be held two times per week (Tuesday, Thursday) from November 12th  through mid-February. All Tuesday/Thursday practices will be held from 4:30pm – 6:00pm at the Lyndhurst campus in the wrestling room. Additionally, we will have a handful of Saturday practices which will be communicated once scheduled. Most competitions will take place on Saturdays and Sundays, and while not required, will be highly encouraged.  A schedule will be released at a later date.

Cost is $150.00 per wrestler, and includes all practices, meets (some but not all tournaments), and a t-shirt.  Headgear and wrestling shoes are required.  Singlet uniform will be provided by the club during the season.

We will also be offering the opportunity to purchase additional team gear. Watch for more information.

Advanced registration is requested.  We will take registrations anytime, but advanced registration will greatly help in our planning.  Registered families will receive a calendar, as well as guidelines for participation.
