Hawken Players' Society (HPS)

The Hawken Players' Society (HPS), a production company made up entirely of students, produces two full-length shows per year – a fall play in November and a winter musical in February. All students are encouraged to audition regardless of experience or membership in HPS. Students can get involved in various facets of a given production including acting, directing, and stagecraft.
At Hawken, nearly all aspects of a production are student driven: set design and construction; props, costumes or makeup; marketing and graphic design; acting, singing, dancing; and even assistant directing. Students are given the latitude, tools and responsibility, under the guidance of adult mentors, to take full ownership of their role as an artist, whether on stage or behind the scenes. Working local professionals also serve as guest teaching artists to help students build and hone their skills.

As the list of past performances shows, the performing arts department at Hawken believes in taking on ambitious and relevant material. In every undertaking, students are held to the highest possible standards of production.
