Back to Back CVC Champs!
The Girls Cross Country team won the 2018 CVC Championship Meet 30 to 38 over a strong team from Independence. The win is a repeat of the 2017 Championship when the Hawks ran away from the second place team from Berkshire.
Ella Gilson '21 paced the Hawks with a CVC Champion time of 18:20, beating her CVC record time from 2017 by 53 seconds. Juliana Metz '21 finished in 2nd place in a time of 19:13, which also broke the CVC record. Julia Newman '20 finished in 3rd place, Lena Sylvan '21 was 11th, Adele Metres '20 was 13th and Amanda Lee '22 finished in 17th place. In the JV race, Olivia Hall ' 22 and Abby Lipold '22 each ran personal best times.
At the two mile mark of the 3.1 mile race the Hawks had secured the top 3 spots in the race. During the last mile runners 4, 5 and 6 for Hawken moved through the pack of runners to secure the team victory. Amanda Lee continued her weekly improvement with another personal record (PR). This week she improved her time by over 2 minutes! Olivia Hall improved her PR by 90 seconds and Abby Lipold by 75 seconds.

Next week the Hawken Cross Country team will travel to the Trumbull Country Fairgrounds for the District Meet on Saturday at 2:00pm.
