New Team Record and PR's set at Saturday Night Lights

The Girls Cross Country Team traveled to Centerville, Ohio to compete against the best teams in Ohio at the Saturday Night Lights Invitational. Beavercreek upset the number 1 ranked Centerville team to win the meet by 1 point. The Hawks finished in 15th place in a field of 31 teams.

Ella Gilson ’21 finished in 4th place in a team record time of 17:33, her time beat the old record by 46 seconds. Ella’s time is also the fasted time among Division 2 runners in Ohio, 4th fastest time among all divisions in Ohio and the 23rd fastest time among high school girls in the county.

Juliana Metz ‘21 set a personal record of 13:45 as she finished in 34th place and Julia Newman ‘20 completed the course in 19:23 for 63rd place. Lena Sylvan ‘21 and Adele Metres ’20 completed the scoring for the Hawks, both setting new personal records. Lena ran the 3.1 mile course in 20:43 which was 76 seconds faster than she had previously and Adele finished in 20:48, a PR by 1 minute and 44 seconds. Ellie Weiss ’19 was the 6th place finisher for the team.

The Hawks entered the meet ranked 14th in the Division 2 State Poll. As a result of the performance in Centerville, the Hawks have moved up to 8th in the most recent State ranking. This weekend the team travels to Hilliard Bradley High School, near Columbus to compete in the Midwest Meet of Champions on Saturday morning.
