Hawks Run Under the Lights
The Hawks had a great race under the lights in Centerville, OH on Saturday. In a field of many D1 state ranked teams, the Hawks, currently ranked #4 in the State D2 poll, finished in 13th place.
Four girls ran times in the 19's or better. The team was led by the class of 2021's J. Metz in 27th with a time of 18:53 and E. Gilson in 51st place with a time of 19:24! Next came sophomores C. Perusek in 19:56 and J. Newman in 19:57 followed closely by L. Musbach in 20:30. Team Captain E. Weiss finished the course in 22:03 followed by J. Chin in 22:14, A. Metres in 22:32 and V. Laurianti completed 2 miles in 18:37.
Metz set a new freshman team record and Gilson tied the former record held by Hawken XC & TF superstar Ally Markovich '13.
With more than 3,700 participants, the Saturday Night Lights Extravaganza is one of the largest XC meets in Ohio. The 9:30pm race time created a unique racing environment - running under the lights. With afternoon temperatures approach 100 degrees, the night race also provided a safe environment to complete the 5K course.
