Fall 2014 Intensives Conclude

As students and faculty leave for winter break, they complete the fall session of Upper School Intensives – three weeks where students take one course, all day long.

Science courses this fall included Chemistry; Chemistry Honors; AP Biology; Physics; and Marine Science Honors, which traveled for two weeks of study at The Island School in The Bahamas.
 
Humanities courses included US History: U.S. & the World; AP U.S. History, which traveled to Charleston, SC; Cleveland in Action; and Leadership Through Diversity, which traveled to Indianapolis for The Student Diversity Leadership Conference. Numerous topics are offered for the Humanities 9 and Humanities 10 courses, and an English seminar class on Homelessness was based at The Gries Center, Hawken’s urban extension campus.
 
Students studying the arts immersed in Graffiti Art; Filmmaking; Advanced Stagecraft; Drawing & Painting the Human Figure; and Music Playlist. Other courses included a new course on App Development; the return of Game Theory & Probability; and French Immersion, a course that traveled in France.
