HPS Double Casts Fall Play

Due to the limited number of roles and the plethora of talent displayed at auditions, director Michael LaRochelle decided to double cast the fall production of An Inspector Calls, by J.B. Priestley. With the exception of Andrew Johnson '10, who will be playing Mr. Birling in both casts, every role will be played by two students, with each cast performing its own staging of the show. To accommodate the double cast, HPS will expand the show's run from the usual three shows to six. (Read more about this in the News-Herald.)

Written at the end of the Second World War and set before World War I, An Inspector Calls is a compelling and haunting thriller by one of Britain's leading post-war dramatists. An immensely popular play in England, Priestley's masterpiece is frequently featured as a curriculum text for English Literature classes throughout the UK and beyond. The story begins when the mysterious inspector Goole calls unexpectedly on the prosperous Birling family home. Their peaceful dinner party celebrating their daughter Sheila's engagement is shattered by the Inspector's investigation into the death of a young woman. Startling revelations not only rock the very foundations of their lives but challenge us all to examine our consciences.

The Daisy Cast will feature the following students: Andrew Johnson '10 as Arthur Birling, Saeed Jackson '11 as Gerald Croft, Randi Michel '10 as Sheila Birling, Adrienne Krol '10 as Sybil Birling, Travis Reilly '11 as Eric Birling, Moriah Rahamim '11 as Inspector Goole, and Ana Muschler '10 as Edna, with Aden Wexberg '12 as Assistant Director. The Eva Cast will feature Andrew Johnson '10 as Arthur Birling, Ryan Smith '10 as Gerald Croft, Alexis Floyd '12 as Sheila Birling, Valentina Muraleedharan '10 as Sybil Birling, Wesley Rupert '10 as Eric Birling, Shayla Simmons '10 as Inspector Goole, and Madsion Thomas '13 as Edna, with Dayne Sundman '11 as Assistant Director.
