Eight additional seniors were named Commended Students in the National Merit Scholarship Program: Stella Connelly, Adithya Kalyanam, Claire Marrie, Krishna Mukunda, Soren Palencik, Krishna Sanaka, Andrew Solganik, and Mourad Zeynalov. The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. This year, over 1.5 million students entered the competition as juniors when they took the Preliminary SAT test. The semifinalists represent an elite group that makes up less than one percent of high school seniors nationally and includes the highest scoring test takers in each state.
