Three Hawks Land Coveted Scholarships

Congratulations to the two Hawken juniors and one senior who were recently named recipients of highly selective scholarships.

Jordan Slaughter ’20 was selected as one of 300 Gates Scholars from across the nation. Jordan, also a Questbridge Scholar, is heading to Princeton this fall to begin his undergraduate career. He plans on majoring in chemical and biological engineering. Click here to learn more about the highly selective Gates scholarship.

Molly Xiao ’21 and Aniyah Nelson ’21 have both been named Joyce Ivy Summer Scholars and were the only independent school students selected for this program. Molly has enrolled in Brown University’s summer program and will be taking a course in “Law, Ethics, and Democracy.” Aniyah, who has enrolled in Harvard’s Pre-College Program through the Joyce Ivy program, will be taking a summer course called “The Science of Politics: An Introduction to Coding and Statistical Analysis.” She was also accepted to the University of Chicago Summer Scholars program and has yet to determine her course selection. It remains to be seen whether these summer classes will be held on campus or online.
