    Congratulations to Maria Schreiner ’19, who took first place in the 36th Annual National Shakespeare Competition, an event run by the English-Speaking Union and held at Lincoln Center in New York City on April 29!

    Upper School Chess Team Named State Champions

    Thirteen Hawken Lower, Middle, and Upper School chess players were among 196 students from all corners of Ohio competing in four sections of the State High School and Middle School Chess Championships held in Cleveland on April 6-7.

    Congratulations to the Hawken Lower School students who were members of the three Hawken teams recognized in the 2018-2019 Toshiba/NSTA ExploraVision science innovation competition, the largest K-12 science competition designed to build problem-solving, critical thinking and collaboration skills.

    Wrestlers Place at States

    This past weekend Hawken’s wrestling trio of Jackson Reineke ’20, Will Lindsey ’20, and Patrick Reineke ’22 wrestled in the D-III State Championship.
  • Alumni Return to Campus to "Give Back"

    On Friday, March 8, 55 alumni from all over the country returned to Hawken to teach classes to the entire Upper School. This biennial event celebrates Hawken alumni and exposes our students to their rich and varied careers.
  • Hawks Display Chess Prowess at Greater Cleveland Tournament

    Eighteen Hawken Lower, Middle, and Upper School students were among 264 chess players who participated in the Greater Cleveland Scholastic Chess League tournament on Saturday, March 2. Read on for highlights from the tournament.
  • Indoor Track State Champion!

    Last weekend at Spire Institute in Geneva, sophomore Ella Gilson won the Ohio High School Indoor State Championship in the 1600m with her time of 5:07.28!
  • Two Hawks Named State Champion at Ohio Speech and Debate Tournament; Team Places Second in Sweepstakes

    Hawken had a fantastic weekend at the state tournament held earlier this month in Columbus, with Ella Attell ’19 and Jared Shapiro ’19 crowned state champions in Congress and Program Oral Interp, respectively, and the team finishing as state runner-up in overall team sweepstakes – breaking the school record for states sweeps points.
  • Wrestlers Headed to States

    Hawken Wrestling had a day for the ages at the OHSAA D-III Northeast District Meet at Garfield Heights High School last weekend. The Hawks had not had a district champion since Jeff Walton did it in 1999, 20 years ago.

    Destynn Keuchel '22 won the "14 and Under" section of the 2019 National Junior Chess Congress held in Cypress, California this past weekend.

    For the second year in a row, Maria Schreiner '19 took first place in the February 23 Cleveland Shakespeare Competition, an event sponsored by the Cleveland branch of the English-Speaking Union (ESU).

    Girls swimming once again won the state championship in convincing fashion at the state meet in Canton this past weekend.

    Hawken School is pleased to announce a new program for toddlers from 18 to 36 months beginning in the 2019-2020 school year. This addition to the Lyndhurst campus is particularly timely given the increasing interest among current parents in program offerings for younger students.

    The Alumni Association hosted its annual Winter Luncheon on Saturday, December 22 with over 175 alumni, family, and friends in attendance.
