Physical Education

Grade 9-12

The philosophical emphases of the Upper School Physical Education Department are the development of a lifelong commitment to fitness and a personalized healthy lifestyle. Through our strength and conditioning program and the use of our state-of-the-art facilities, students identify and shape their lifelong fitness goals.

Physical Education 9, 10 and 11
  • Features a selective sampling of different sports utilizing the invasion-sport model and the net-sport model
  • Teaches tactical understanding, skill, work-rate, and performance on the standard battery of fitness tests

Health I
  • Addresses current and lifetime wellness issues such as stress, heart disease, cancer, fitness, nutrition and drugs
  • Utilizes a study skills approach where students are responsible for researching, sharing, and reflecting on discovered information
 
Health II
  • Enables students to obtain first aid and CPR certification
  • Follows the American Red Cross’s “First Aid with AED” certification program
