Graduate Receives Ohio Liberator Award

Kimberly Hogan '98 was awarded the Ohio Liberator Award on January 20th in Columbus for her work to help end human trafficking.
Hogan, theology teacher and director of service learning at Trinity High School in Garfield Heights, is working to develop high school curriculum that addresses the issue of human trafficking. She also participates in direct outreach to rescue adolescents from prostitution.

Hogan was nominated for the Ohio Liberator Award by one of her students, senior Catrina Olsen, and became a finalist through online votes from her supporters. "Knowing Ms. Hogan is really a blessing," Olsen said. "I didn't know human trafficking was such a big issue until she brought it to my attention. With her passion for people, she has inspired me to become an advocate and start working to end human trafficking."
 
The Ohio Liberator Award was created in honor of William Lloyd Garrison, considered a "radical Abolitionist" for his views on not only the immediate eradication of slavery, but also for equal rights for blacks and women and celebrates Ohioans working to do the same.
