STEMM Students Shine at 17th Annual Symposium

Congratulations to our Hawken STEMM students for a job well done at the 17th Annual Dr. Robert Maciunas STEMM Research Symposium held earlier this month.

Director of Hawken's Paepke STEMM Research Program Lacy Chick shared, “Our students did amazing work over the last year and a half and brought all their research and expertise together to present to judges and the Hawken community. We received such great feedback from the judges, many saying things like, I want your students to come to my lab meetings to demonstrate how to do a presentation, and This work is better than what I’ve seen serving on grad student committees.’ Just further evidence of how amazing our kids are.”

This year, there was a three-way tie for first place: Sophia Pinto (for the second year in a row!), Sabih Halim, and Linchang Zhao.

In addition to the top three, the following students placed in our top 15 and will advance to the Northeastern Ohio Science and Engineering Fair in March: Aiden Bai, Elise Babka, Audrianna Honda, Ayat Jaffar, Arash Mahipal, Asal Mohammadi, Daniel Pang, Abigail Piazza, Nicole Rashidi, Zakarias Shishehbor, Annie Song, and Ava Suri.

Dr. Chick thanks the volunteer judges and Eleanor Anderson, Lauren Coil-Sherck, Jon Asbornsen, Suzette Dyer, and the Sage crew for helping make the evening a success! Special thanks are extended to Dr. Ann Failinger and the Oak Tree Philanthropic Foundation for their continued support.
