THE POSITION
Working under the direction of the Human Performance Academic & Programming Lead and in close partnership with the Lyndhurst Campus division directors, Hawken’s Human Performance teachers bring a whole-child philosophy to life every day—from toddlers through 8th grade. These teachers genuinely believe that how a child feels in their body shapes how they show up everywhere else: in the classroom, on the field, with their peers, and in life. They design and deliver experiences that are joyful, developmentally intentional, and grounded in the school’s belief that physical engagement builds character, confidence, and lifelong skills.
Human Performance teachers at Hawken are active members of a collaborative department and engaged partners with the broader athletic community. They are committed to knowing every student as an individual and to creating an environment where all children—regardless of ability or background—feel capable, seen, and inspired to find their better selves through movement and play.
