SUBSTITUE NURSE, GATES MILLS & LYNDHURST CAMPUSES (GRADES TODDLER TO 12)

THE POSITION
Hawken School is seeking a substitute School Nurse who will focus his or her energies in filling in for short-term and long-term stints at the Gates Mills and/or Lyndhurst campuses. The essential duties/responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Attends to all medical situations that arise in the course of a day for adults and students on campus
  • Provide temporary health services to students and staff in the absence of the regular school nurse
  • Deliver first aid and emergency care for illness or injury during the school day
  • Administer medications and treatments according to established protocols and physician instructions
  • Maintain confidentiality and accurate documentation of student health visits and incidents within the electronic medical record
  • Follow existing care plans for students with chronic or special health needs
  • Communicate effectively with school staff, students, and parents regarding immediate health concerns
  • Support student health screenings as needed (e.g., vision, hearing) with the assistance of the resident nurse
  • Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and supplies of the health office
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to travel to and work at multiple campuses as needed (our population is toddler–grade 12)
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or other relevant health certification is required. Candidates must possess demonstrated competence and experience in best practices with respect to medical care for pediatric and adolescent students. Candidates must be aware of and conversant in HIPPA regulations specifically related to confidentiality within a school community. We are seeking a medical professional who brings with them a healthy combination of flexibility, energy, and creativity.
