Prizes Awarded at 5th Annual STEMM Symposium

25 Upper School students presented projects before a panel of judges at the fifth annual Bob Maciunas STEMM Research Symposium earlier this week.

Alison Jin '15 took first place with her project entitled “Colorimetric Detection of Human Papillomavirus Types 16 and 18 by DNA Hybridization with Oligonucleotide Functionalized Au Nanoparticles." Second place was earned by Amin Nair '15 who researched “Frequency-based calibration for vibration energy scavenging using PZT (Lead-Zirconate-Titanate) piezoelectric cantilevers." Zach Kirsch '14 placed third with "Keeping calm: The effects of calcium channel blockers on preventing seizures and the development of epilepsy."
