As pioneers in developing entrepreneurship programming for high school students, Hawken teachers and administrators have designed a semester-long, problem-based course in Entrepreneurial Studies. Based at the school’s urban extension center in Cleveland’s University Circle, the interdisciplinary, honors-level course provides students an opportunity to work with Cleveland entrepreneurs, who present real-world business problems, complete with hard deliverables and deadlines. In the final portion of the course, students use their knowledge about entrepreneurship and team work to plan their own startup companies.
