Hawken Celebrates Earth Week

Hawken is extending Earth Day throughout next week, and a plethora of environmentally fun and friendly activities have been planned. The week will kick off with an Opening Assembly on Monday, which will include brief presentations about disposable water bottle use, energy conservation and recycling from the two AP Environmental Studies classes and the Ecology Club. This will be followed by the \"Earth in Jeopardy\" quiz show. Other events throughout the week will include the Mather Mud Run/Nature Hike followed by an ice cream social, Waste Reduction Day (no paper cups will be offered in the cafeteria); Lights Out Day, and a Go Green Costume Competition. Reusable water bottles with a Hawken logo will be sold throughout the week. April 19-24 the Upper School is hosting a recycling event for computers, electronics and shoes. Shoes and electronics will be collected Monday-Friday in the A/C Lobby. Computer recycling will take place on Friday and Saturday. Click here for complete details.
