Track & Field athletes advance to State Finals

At the recent OHSAA Region 9 Track & Field Finals, the boys` team scored 32.5 points to finish in 5th place in a field of 54 teams, and the girls` team scored 13 points to finish 16th in a field of 48 teams. Sophomore Tyler Nichols advanced to State Competition in the Long Jump (20-6.5) and 100m High Hurdles (15.14) with a first and third place finish. Junior Oge Anoliefo will participate in Columbus in the 200m (22.95) after winning a run-off for the 4th qualifying spot. The boys 4x100m Relay team of sophomore Jake McKay, Nichols, freshman Jake Willen and Anoliefo set the new school record of 43.82 seconds on way to becoming regional champions. Louise Gliga dropped 26 seconds from her previous best 3200m time to set a new school record and advance to States with a fourth place finish in a time of 11:26.05. Other Regional Meet finalists included; Stephen Johnson-Shot Put(44-10.5, ninth place), Girls 4x800m Relay(10:01.22, sixth Place), Jake McKay-100m Dash(11.59, seventh place), Louise Gliga-1600m Run(5:16.32, sixth place), Vicki Wilson-300m Hurdles(48.42, seventh place). The OHSAA State Track & Field Meet begins on Friday, June 1 at Ohio State University.
