Swimmers Make History, Qualify for States

The Women`s District swimming championship was held last weekend. Hawken took the top three spots in many events, a school first. In the 200 medley relay event, Hawken took 1st place. Erica Dorfman, Rachel Borden, Louise Gliga, Sarah Dorenkott qualified for state with this finish. In the 200 freetyle event, Louise Gliga took 8th, Brittany Legal took 3rd, Beth Bacon took 2nd, and Brittany Strumbel took 1st. For the first time ever, Hawken won the first 3 places in a district swim meet. All four swimmers qualify for states. In the 200 IM event, Jenn Happ took 14th, Rachel Borden took 6th, Courtney Tumbush took 3rd, Jen Aronoff took 1st. Borden, Tumbush and Aronoff qualify for states. In the 50 freestyle event, Caitlin Clements took 20th, Erica Dorfman took 7th, Sarah Dorenkott took 1st. Dorfman and Dorenkott qualify for states. In the 100 fly, Beth Bacon took 3rd, Katlin Dagg took 2nd, Louise Gliga took 1st. Again the first time ever, Hawken won the first 3 places in a district swim meet. All three qualify for states. In the 100 freestyle event, Caitlin Clements took 24th, Sarah Dorenkott took 1st qualified for states. In the 500 freestyle event, Jordan Hawn took 13th, Courtney Tumbush took 3rd, Brittany Legal took 2nd, Brittany Strumbel took 1st. Another first 3 places in districts! Tumbush, Legal and Strumbel qualify for states. In the 200 freestyle relay, Hawken took first place. State qualifiers include Brittany Strumbel, Jen Aronoff, Beth Bacon, Sarah Dorenkott. In the 100 backstroke, Jenn Happ took 16th, Katlin Dagg took 4th, Erica Dorfman took 2nd. Dagg and Dorfman qualify for states. In the 100 breaststroke, Jordan Hawn took 12th, Rachel Borden took 5th, Jen Aronoff took 3rd. Borden and Aronoff qualify for states. Hawken won the 400 freestyle relay. Erica Dorfman, Aen Aronoff, Beth Bacon and Brittany Strumbel qualify for states. The total team score was 469.
