Lend Us Your Photos

In 2003, Upper School history teacher John Tottenham began to organize thousands of school-related photos in a searchable, web-based archive. With the help of academic dean David Gillespie `89, he has electronically archived more than 43,000 photographs. Now a Faculty Emeritus, Mr. Tottenham still devotes many hours to the project and could use your help. If you have photos from the 1920s to the 1970s featuring Hawken alumni, faculty, staff, parents, teachers, administrators or events, please send email them to jtott@hawken.edu or mail to Mr. John Tottenham, Hawken School, PO Box 8002, Gates Mills, 44040. John will then select items to be archived, and for hard copies, will scan them and return them to their owner. It would be of great help if people in the photos were identified. You can visit the Hawken archive by logging on to Hawknet and then going to http://slides.hawken.edu. Help is also needed identifying people and dates on already archived photos. From the archives site, the user types `?` into the search engine to find unidentified photos from his or her era at Hawken. Each photo has an email attachment that enables information to be sent to Mr. Tottenham. Similarly, if people have been incorrectly identified, the necessary corrections can be noted and emailed.
