Noted Children's Author Visits Hawken

Rosemary Wells, author and illustrator of the well-known Max and Ruby series, visited Hawken's Lyndhurst campus on Monday.

Ms. Wells started her day by sharing her background and inspiration at a parent coffee and book signing.

She then held sessions with prekindergarten, grades K-1 and grades 2-3 where she showed students the elements of a story and talked about how to write for readers. Students were excited to see her art work and to learn about the various techniques she uses to illustrate her books.

Ms. Wells concluded her visit with a 7th grade discussion on the causes of the civil war and writing historical fiction.
