Congratulations to Larry Fulton '15 who earned first place at the State of Ohio Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Commission Oratorical Contest held April 26 in Columbus. His winning oration was titled "Honoring the Sacrifice."

The Ohio Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Commission is committed to educating children about Dr. King's legacy of brotherhood among all people.

Former Ohio MLK Holiday Commissioner Mildred Clark founded an oratorical contest in her hometown of Toledo 28 years ago to recognize Dr. King and involve children in that city's annual MLK celebration. First-place winners have spoken at the annual state Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Celebration in Columbus every year since, and Larry will be speaking at the event in January 2014.

The theme of the 2013 statewide oratorical contest was “Remaining Awake Through a Great Revolution.” Read more about the competition here.
