Upper School Students Share Culture with First Graders

lvl
On Wednesday, April 28th, Jodie Gill`s French 4/5 and Jane Botella`s Spanish 3 travelled to the Lower School to work with Judy Rubertino`s and Liane Beiers`s 1st grade classes who are studying \"Our Neighbors to the North and South\"-a social studies unit on Mexico and Canada. The upper schoolers gave presentations on Mexico and Quebec for the 1st graders to enhance their classroom studies. The subjects included the story of the Mexican flag, folk dances from Mexico and Quebec, and the cuisine and languages of both regions. To cap off their experience, all 4 classes-lower and upper, teachers included- got together to dance the Mexican hat dance and a Quebecois square dance. This was the 5th annual trip, started by Jodie Gill when her son, Isaac Drickhamer, now a 5th grader, was in the 1st grade.
