Over 130 voices to unite in Upper, Middle School vocal concert

Music will be the tie that binds come Sunday. For the first time in a long time, the Upper School and Middle School vocal groups will come together for a joint-concert on the Upper School campus. The performance will be this Sunday, March 4 at 3:00 p.m. Featured groups will include the Hawken Chorale, the Chamber Chorale, the Sixth-grade Chorus, the Seventh and Eighth-grade Chorus and the Middle School Select Choir. Performing arts chair and Upper School choir director Dan Call sees Sunday as a chance to enliven and unify the student community. \"We feel it`s important to establish some cross-campus relationships as well as giving the Middle School students an opportunity too see what sort of things are happening on the Upper Campus and what some of their art options will be when they become freshman,\" he said. \"It`s also a good time for reflection for the Upper kids to see from whence they came.\" Call hopes the concert will be the beginning of a yearly cross-campus collaboration. On Sunday, each choir will perform a handful of numbers separately and then join forces—over 130 voices in all-for the final two songs of the evening-\"The Garten Mother`s Lullaby\" and \"One Day More\" from \"Les Miserables.\" \"...It`s going to be a great concert,\" Call said.
