Sophomore Wins State National History Day Competition
Hannah Miller `08 won the local and state level of the National History Day competition with her individual performance of \"Mother Bickerdyke: A Unwavering Stand for the Civil War Soldiers.\" This year`s topic for NHD was taking a stand in history - people, events, ideas. She competed against 7 or 8 in the performance category, from students representing about 5 schools, many of which wrap NHD into their curricula. Hannah`s performance was judged best in her grade level and category. Her state victory on May 6 qualifies her for national competition in Washington DC in mid June. Hannah (and current fellow sophomore Kelsey Rose) placed 3rd in the nation in 7th grade at Birchwood School and 10th in 8th grade.
