Over the last few weeks, students in grade 1-3 have worked hard to participate in the Climate Quilt Campaign, a worldwide effort to unite children around the globe to support the environment. Many Hawken families donated old fabric, decorating supplies and time to cut over 100 squares. Students were then challenged to make a pledge to do something to take better care of our Earth. The focus and excitement the students demonstrated while working on this project was tremendous! A variety of pledges have been made, some large and some small, but all share the goal of environmental awareness and improvement.
Squares are being collected from all over the world to be combined into one giant quilt to be completed for Earth Day. The Hawken School section of the quilt was mailed to New Jersey on February 13 to be added to the Climate Quilt Campaign Quilt, which will be assembled in time for Earth Day celebration on April 22.
