Mr. Shurtz Recognized for Outstanding Contributions to Physics Teaching

Bob Shurtz, Upper School Physics teacher, was presented with a Distinguished Service Citation from the American Association of Physics Teachers at their Winter Meeting held recently in Chicago. Established in 1953, the Distinguished Service Citations are presented to members of AAPT in recognition of their exceptional contributions to physics teaching.
Shurtz’s contributions include serving on the coaching staff of the US Physics Team for eight years, four of which he was co-director. He has also been active in the Physics Teaching Resource Agent Program for a number of years and has served as chair of the National AAPT High School Committee and president of the Ohio AAPT. 

In addition to being honored at a recognition ceremony during the conference, Mr. Shurtz was a guest at an elegant reception held in the penthouse suite of the Hyatt Hotel. Mr. Shurtz also attended forums on cosmology and the fate of the universe that were part of the AAPT Winter Meeting events. Congratulations, Mr. Shurtz!
