The Scholastic Writing competition honored 13 Birchwood eighth graders with regional awards. The prestigious contest recognizes excellence in originality, voice, and technical skill.
“Remarkable!” said Birchwood School Founder-in-Residence Charles Debelak, calling the students’ achievement an acknowledgement of the dedicated work and the standards of excellence among the eighth grade teachers. “A shout-out to all of the foundational work among all of the writing teachers from first grade through eighth.”
All eighth grade students spend roughly two months drafting and revising an original narrative, challenging them to call upon all of the skills they have practiced throughout their time in the Language Arts program at Birchwood.
