Two Hawks Named World Champions at National Tournament; Hawken Named Debate School of Excellence
Congratulations to David Lyons ‘19 and Cassandra Berlin ‘20, members of the World Champion North Coast Worlds Schools team, on defeating a team from China in the final round to become the “world champions” at the National Speech and Debate Association national tournament held in Dallas earlier this week! As a top-20 debate school, Hawken also won the Debate School of Excellence award at the tournament.
Additional tournament highlights include: Emma Sedlak ‘20, 8th place in Student Congress House; Samia Menon ’19, finalist in the House; Ella Attell ’19, semi-finalist in the Senate and auto-qualifier for the 2020 national tournament; Ally Sewell ‘19, top 23 in Lincoln Douglas debate; and Jared Shapiro, octa-finalist in Program Oral Interpretation of Literature.
