Weil, Scully and Doyle Receive Lacrosse Awards

Hawken lacrosse has received notable recognitions from the Ohio High School Lacrosse Association, Northeast Region.

Senior Josh Weil received Division 2 Ohio All-Northeast Ohio 1st Team honors as a midfielder, one of the toughest positions in lacrosse. Also receiving 1st Team recognition were attackman Adam Stilson ’15, who scored his 100th career goal on May 5th, midfielder Logan Lair ’16, who was the top vote-getter in the region among midfielders, and defenseman Ethan Scully ’15. Other players receiving recognition and will be announced at a later time.

Varsity Lacrosse Coach Jim Scully also received recognition from the lacrosse coaches as Coach of the Year, a richly deserved honor. Jim has dedicated almost 20 years of service to the sport of lacrosse in Ohio at virtually every level, and has led Hawken’s program to perennial competitive success and consistently high standards of conduct and decorum. This, along with his enormous heart and attention to his players, has earned him the respect of coaches, players, and officials throughout the region and state, and has served his players well during this difficult time.

Hawken Athletic Director Jim Doyle was recognized as Man of the Year by the region coaches for his service on the Athletic Director's Council of the Ohio High School Lacrosse Association and his unswerving leadership, not only for our boy's team, but also the region's lacrosse community in Hawken's time of need for friendship, compassion, and love.

The varsity boys lacrosse team returns to play without their teammates Alex Doody and Josh Weil, who died in a tragic accident last week. The playoff game, round 2 of the OHSLA State Tournament, against Revere HS takes place Friday, May 22 at 7pm at Walton Stadium. If the Hawks win, they will host the winner of Westlake and Avon Lake on Wednesday, May 27, also at 7pm.
