Parents Meet 100 Hour $1 Million Challenge

The parent and grandparent community of Hawken met a challenge to raise $1 Million in just 100 Hours the week before spring break.

To help complete the unprecedented $8 Million Challenge set out by the Kelvin and Eleanor Smith Foundation 15 months ago, an anonymous donor stepped forward and pledged to give an additional $1 million if parents and grandparents raised $1 million during a 100-Hour Parent Challenge held March 9-13.

A total of $1,166,698 was raised through gifts from families across the entire School – from parents and grandparents of the youngest students to parents of graduating seniors.

As a result of the 100-Hour Challenge and the matches by the Smith Foundation and the anonymous donor, Hawken is now $3 million closer to the fundraising goals for Stirn Hall and the Centennial. Giving opportunities remain for Hawken alumni and friends, as well as parents who may have missed the 100-hour challenge.

In this video message Head of School D. Scott Looney and Parents' Association President Shani Spiegle thank the community for their incredible support, contagious excitement, and participation.
