Founded in 1915, Hawken School is an independent, college preparatory day school
serving 959 students in Preschool through Grade 12. With the mission to provide "forward-focused preparation for the real world through the development of character and intellect," Hawken offers capable and committed students a learning environment that is coeducational, pluralistic, and nonsectarian.
Hawken strives to develop the character, mind, and body of its students to the highest
degree possible. This development comes from exploration, analysis, and practice
across a broad range of human thought and endeavor extending from the humanities,
arts, mathematics, and science to athletics and community service. Through this
process Hawken provides its students with perspective: kinship with the past, a grasp of
the present, and responsibility toward the future.
