From its earliest days, a culture of character has permeated Hawken School. Head of School Scott Looney puts it this way: “We believe that who students become is just as important as what they become. We intentionally create our innovative programming and our community culture of inclusiveness in ways that inspire our student who go out and be good people who do good things in the world.”

Character development is embedded in just about everything aspect of Hawken School - formal academic curriculum, advisory program, co-curricular activities, athletics, and our mission: Forward-focused preparation for the real world through the development of character and intellect.
