Hawken Athletics is very excited to announce the appointment of Kim Curtis as Director of Track & Field and Cross Country at Hawken. Included in her work will be the serving as head coach for boys and girls track & field and cross country teams, as well as our indoor track program.
Kim Curtis is a locally and nationally recognized coach with exemplary USATF certifications and an impressive depth of experience coaching athletes at all levels, including at the highest levels in high school, college, and beyond. We are quite fortunate to have Kim accept our offer, and we fully expect her to elevate our track and cross country programs in every way. Most importantly, Coach Curtis is perfectly aligned with our mission at Hawken and in Hawken Athletics, her training philosophies are in-line with our strength and conditioning programs, and she carries a wonderful balance of high expectations while keeping it fun and athlete-centered.
Kim has a long history coaching track & field at many levels, including at Beaumont School from 1996 to 2004 where her teams won 5 OHSAA State Track & Field Championships. She has also coached at Hathaway Brown School, and Baker University (men’s t&f).Other accolades of her coaching career include 40 Individual state champion sprinters, 70 + individual state finalists, Olympic Training Center qualifiers, Olympic Trial finalist in Men's Sprints and Hurdles and Women's Sprints, World Championships finalist in men's long jump, 12 college conference individual titles in men's track & field, All American shuttle hurdle team, and multiple OHSAA state track & field records.
Kim holds certification as a USATF Level III Elite Coach and a USATF Level II Coach, has won the Ohio High School Coaching Excellence Award, and been a presenter at many prestigious national coaching and athlete clinics across the country. She has been a performance specialist for several area high schools and has worked with scores of athletes at all levels across Northeast Ohio. Additionally, she has 15 years of experience coaching soccer.
Kim lives in Shaker Heights with her husband, Scott, and they have four children - Lexie, Ali, Matt, and Nik. Kim and Scott own and operate Yoga Roots in Cleveland Heights. Welcome Coach Curtis!
