Vlad Muresan

Program Director - Boys Soccer

Vlad Muresan has been the technical director at Liberty Futbol Club in Akron, Ohio for the past five years. He has been a coach with Liberty at many levels, including U-17 and U-19 boys since 2010, and he has coached state level teams with Ohio Youth Soccer Association since 2011.
Vlad was born in Romania and immigrated to America with his family at the age of 11. Upon finishing high school, which included time at St. Ignatius High School and International Development Academy, Vlad played for one year in the lower levels of Romanian professional soccer. After returning to America, he began coaching and obtained his "D," "C" and "B" licenses from the United States Soccer Federation. At the age of 24, Vlad became one of the youngest coaches in America to earn his "A" license.
Coach Muresan comments, “I am grateful and privileged to be the new coach of Hawken. I cannot wait to meet the players and families of Hawken Soccer. I am excited and eager to embark on this new journey with Hawken and looking forward to getting started!”

The ultimate goal of Hawken Boys Soccer is to have the players enjoy the beautiful game and, at the same time, become as good as they can be. In live training and in game action, we always strive to win the ball back within 7 or 8 seconds, and then pass with good speed of play, which will create opportunities to score. Tempo is everything – it makes it fun, and if done skillfully, leads to success. The team is the most important player at Hawken School. Hawken Soccer teaches to work hard, prepare, and always be a team player.

Hawken Soccer History

Hawken Boys Soccer has had consistent success at the state level for over 25 years, but our competitive drive and success goes back to the origin of varsity sports at Hawken. The 1964 team went 8-2- 1 and featured some fantastic athletes and coaches!
