"The Hawken baseball program focuses on building respect; for the game, for responsibility to the team, and for our extended family. We hope to achieve this through consistent effort, pushing each other to develop better skills and understanding what it takes to compete."

Hawken Baseball History

Hawken Baseball has a grand tradition which dates to our earliest days at the Lyndhurst Campus in the 1920s. The Hawks began playing varsity baseball in the 1960s, and it did not take long to establish a competitive tradition. Dud Humphrey's ('68) season batting average of .527 still stands as a Hawken record today - one of the longest standing records in Hawken Athletics' history.

The Hawks have won three district titles - 1986 (Coach Brandt's team), 1995, and 1996. Hawken Baseball was recently district runner-up in both 2016 and 2017. The program has 13 sectional titles and 5 league titles to its credit. Hawken was one of the first high schools in Northeast Ohio to install an artificial turf baseball field.
