15 Receive Merit Scholar Recognition
Hawken is proud to congratulate eight Semifinalists and seven Commended students in the National Merit Scholarship Program, as well as one Semifinalist in the National Achievement Scholarship Competition.
Based on their exceptional performance on the 2012 PSATs, the eight seniors named Semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program are among a nationwide pool of approximately 16,000 semifinalists - less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors. Congratulations to Sid Ahuja, Aric Floyd, Sophie Kerman, Zachary Kirsch, Emma Link, Elijah Spiro, Sarah Stark, and Ben Wu. Finalists will be announced in February and scholarship winners will be announced in March.
Congratulations also to seniors Lena Goren, Kevin Griesser, Quinn McHale, Henry Senkfor, Elizabeth Teeter, Julia Ullman and Matthew Zhu for being named Commended Students in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Approximately 34,000 high scorers on the PSATs nationwide received Letters of Commendation in recognition of their outstanding academic promise.
Aric Floyd '14 was named a Semifinalist in the National Achievement Scholarship Competition, a program that recognizes outstanding Black American high school students and is awarded to only 1,600 high school seniors nationwide. Finalists are named in January, and scholarships are awarded in February.
These 15 students join a long tradition of Merit Scholar excellence at Hawken. Congratulations, seniors!
