Hawken School is excited to announce the first-ever collection of Winter Passport Camps! Passport Camps offer children of all ages unique, week-long opportunities to explore, create, learn, and have fun. These camps are specifically designed to foster imagination and curiosity while developing new skills. During the week of December 19, children can choose from a variety of options to kick off a wonderful winter break.

Lunch is not provided for Passport Camps.
Campers must bring a nonperishable, brown bag lunch. Please note we are a nut-free campus.

Drop-off and pick-up are at the specific campus where each camp is scheduled. Transportation is not available for Passport Camps.

*Use of cellphones or other electronic devices is not permitted during camp hours without permission from counselors or administrators. Devices will be collected and returned at the end of the day if they are being used. Please note, there are several camps that do require a device; in those instances, devices will be used appropriately.

  • Lego Creators and Inventors

    Ages 7 – 10

    This camp is for the child who simply loves to imagine, build, and create new and wonderful creations out of Legos. During this week-long camp, campers will work in teams and individually. In addition to city planning, campers will create their own Lego catalog. Using their imagination, campers will create different categories of Lego creations, create and build, and then photograph them to put together into their own unique catalog, just like the ones that arrive at the house throughout the year. This camp is perfect for the outside-the-box Lego enthusiast.
  • Jr. All-Star Camps

    Ages 5 - 9

    All-Star sports camp is the perfect fit for the active child that just can’t get enough running, jumping, throwing, and kicking during the day. This skill- and game-based camp offers your young athlete the perfect opportunity to learn and excel in a variety of sports in an exciting camp setting. New skills will be taught, and old ones will be developed through carefully-planned drills that are then practiced through age-appropriate competitions. Join veteran Hawken Day Camp counselors for an action-packed week of on-the-move sports fun!

    *Outdoor winter games will take place if there is snow. Please send hats, gloves, boots, and snowpants.
  • Tailgating Extravaganza

    ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?!?! This NEW winter TAILGATE CAMP will get your tastebuds going as you create recipes for the biggest tailgate party of the year! In addition to cooking, your child will also have a blast engaging in all their favorite tailgate activities: crafts, game day, face painting, ring toss, cornhole, and more! Your child will learn to cook and bake from scratch with hands-on recipes - from appetizers to desserts! The campers will develop culinary techniques, try new foods, and make new friends in this hands-on, fun, and innovative camp. Your child will have so much fun that they may like this better than the Superbowl!
  • Minecraft

    Ages 7 – 12

    Come enjoy a week exploring the virtual world of Minecraft. Daily adventures await every morning when campers enter pre-constructed worlds to solve puzzles, overcome obstacles, and build virtual communities. Children will be able to exercise their creative muscles in the Minecraft camp’s very own Minecraft server. While set in “creative mode,” campers will be able to utilize unlimited resources to build whatever they can imagine and then explore each other’s creations. Hawken will supply laptops and mice, and a Hawken IT staff member will be available to assist children with computer skills as well as Minecraft gameplay.
  • Winter Crafts, Games, and More

    Get out of the cold and in where it’s warm for exciting creative fun. The season of winter will inspire a week full of fun crafts, games, and projects. With everything from winter watercolors to snow-inspired slime, campers will get their hands messy and their imaginations running. This camp is perfect for the child that likes all forms of art. Games will be taught each day so that children can go home inspired and lead family game nights over the cold winter months. Join us as we beat the cold!
  • Movie Making in your Hands

    Ages 9 - 13

    In this course, we will be learning and exploring all aspects of making a movie, just like the professionals. You will be able to experience all aspects of the process including the scripting, story boarding, filming, and editing of your very own original story. Campers will spend individual days learning about these important steps and will eventually use their new knowledge to make their very own movie. By the end of the week, you will know everything you need to know to make a successful movie, so you can use that knowledge to try it at home. Don’t forget: What is a week all about movie making without viewings of your favorite movies in order to gain some inspiration to make your very own?
  • Chess Camp

    Join us to find out how a simple board of 64 black and white squares and 32 black and white pieces could help improve your concentration and patience, analytical and strategic thinking, creativity and imagination, confidence and resilience, and finally, friendship and spirit! Students with any chess knowledge, including beginners, are welcome.
  • Crocheting for the Cold

    Ages 9 - 13

    Spend a week learning the art of crocheting, which was developed in the 19th century out of a form of chain-stitch embroidery using a hook instead of a needle. During this class, you will spend time learning basic stitches. You will have the opportunity to create many masterpieces including a hat, scarf, mittens, leg warmers, blankets, stuffed animals, and arm warmers. These will make cherished holiday gifts!
  • “I’m not Messy, I’m Creative”!

    Ages 6 – 10

    Exploration that inspires innovation and creativity can be anything but tidy. The hands-on learning and fun, however, are worth every sloppy second! This winter, your child can explore and express his or her imagination and artistry via a variety of mediums. Campers will have the opportunity to create a customized array of Borax-based slimes, construct various arts and crafts, and whip up culinary concoctions to have some messy yet good, clean fun!
