First-year Head Coach Cassie Bucceri ’09 was a standout softball and field hockey player during her time at Hawken and continued her career in both sports at the College of Wooster. She was recently on the coaching staff for Hawken Middle School's softball program.
Ginger Theis Daly ’92 was the softball team’s leading scorer even as a freshman, was named All-League and All-District multiple times, and to this day holds multiple school records. In 1992, her senior year, Daly set a state record by hitting twelve home runs in a season, surpassing the previous state record of ten.
Her sixty-three runs batted in 1992 still ranks 3rd in state history for RBI in a season, an astounding accomplishment. She holds nearly every offensive statistical record for Hawken Softball, including a remarkable .536 career batting average.
The Hawken Girls Cross Country team traveled to Walsh Jesuit to compete in the Pat Ritchie Cross Country Invitational. The girls competed well in the rain and on the muddy double loop course to finish second behind Warren Howland 75 to 78 points.
As Athletic Director Jim Doyle commented after the girls swim team won the State Championship for the 20th consecutive year on Friday, "It was a meet for the ages tonight, one to add to the incredible legacy of Hawken Swimming. It was a meet where our swimmers saw triumph, heartbreak, agony, and exhilaration."
