Alumni Return to Hawken to Mentor Students

Yesterday marked the inaugural Alumni Give Back Day, which brought 60 Hawken alumni from across the country back to campus to share their experiences and expertise in the working world.

Hawken Upper School students typically spend this designated day going out into the community to serve others, but this year they were the lucky recipients of the collective wisdom of their predecessors. Randy Rizor ’70, a shining example of service to country, family and community, got the day started with his inspirational keynote speech, after which students attended four sessions that focused on a variety of career topics ranging from social media to public service to sports to forensic science - and everything in between.

As Scott Looney commented, “Central to Hawken’s Purpose, Promise and Principles is our commitment to deliver a real-world education to our students. I can’t think of a more meaningful way to do that than through this inaugural Alumni Give Back Day.”
