Wrestlers Headed to States

Hawken Wrestling had a day for the ages at the OHSAA D-III Northeast District Meet at Garfield Heights High School last weekend. The Hawks had not had a district champion since Jeff Walton did it in 1999, 20 years ago.

This year, they have two champions. Juniors Jackson Reineke (120 lbs.) and William Lindsey (285 lbs.) each won their weight class in convincing fashion. Jackson earned three pins and defeated a two-time state qualifier 10-1 in the finals. Lindsey also registered three pins en route to the finals, where he was in firm control when his opponent, a three-time state qualifier, defaulted due to injury. Sophomore Patrick Reineke, Jackson's younger brother, placed third, and the team placed 5th. Check out the News-Herald article here.

Patrick, Jackson, and Will head to states this weekend in Columbus. It is the first time in school history Hawken will have three wrestlers at states. The tournament will take place Thursday through Saturday at the OSU Schottenstein Center.
