GATES MILLS, OH -- The Hawken boys basketball team used a 20 point 2nd quarter and 18 point 4th quarter to secure a 58-33 triumph over Fairport Harding in CVC play on Saturday, Dec. 8.
Following tonight's win, the Hawks are now 1-4 on the season, with a 1-1 mark in league play. On the other side of the court, Fairport Harding falls to 2-2 overall and 0-1 in conference action. The Hawks held a firm grasp for much of Saturday’s contest, leading for most of the game. The Red & Gray’s biggest advantage came in the second quarter where they outscored the Skippers by 13 pts. Eli Buchanan (Sophomore) and Clayton Ferguson (Senior) led the team with 12 pts a piece. Their hard work and scoring prowess, in the second quarter, would prove to be enough for the Hawks to hold on and pick up the win, as they would maintain the lead for the remainder of the game. Fairport Harding’s Bartley led all scorers with 15 pts. Other Hawken contributors were Sophomore point guard Cooper Jared with 7pts, Luke Marks (Senior) and Edward Ross (Freshman) chipping in 6 pts each. The Hawks will travel to Orange HS this Friday Dec 14th at 7pm.
