West Geauga posts 48-34 win over Hawken in early CVC conference game

GATES MILLS, OH -- West Geauga held Hawken to 20 pts in the first half and stopped a Hawks' 3rd quarter rally to earn a 48-34 CVC girls basketball victory on Saturday afternoon at Hawken’s Red Gym.
West G’s Ehrbar drilled 3 three-pointers for the Wolverines (4-0, 2-0) and had a game high 23 pts.
 
The Hawks battled the Wolverines to a close 1st quarter, scoring 14 pts to West G’s 20 pts. The Hawks fought back from an early deficit, in the 3rd quarter outscoring the Wolverines 12-9. This comeback was sparked by the great play of freshman Makayla White producing her first ever double- double.
 
Makayla White (Freshman) led the Hawks with game highs in scoring (12pts) and rebounds (12). Other top performers, who helped spurn the 3rd quarter comeback were Erica Emig (Junior), Zee Johnson (Senior) and Juliana Pollard (Freshman). Emig was second on the team in scoring with 9 pts and Johnson was third on the team in scoring with 8 pts. Pollard led all players in assists with 5.

In the 4th and final quarter the Hawks comeback fell short with West G outscoring the Hawks 11-2.

The Hawks continue the early portion of their season with an out of conference game on Wednesday at Western Reserve Academy (6:30 pm).
