Pathways Program > The Panelists

Pathways panelists are alumni and parents who have volunteered their time for the program. If you are interested in becoming a panelist for a future event, contact Peter Anagnostos.

The April panel was held at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.

Dr. Bobbie Baetz-Greenwalt, a former Hawken parent and Vassar College graduate, says she was not specifically thinking of medicine when she entered college but knew she liked biology. Her pathway, however, did lead her into the medical field. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics and a Pediatric Infectious Disease Specialist at Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital. Dr. Baetz-Greenwalt did residencies at both the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and University Hospitals of Cleveland. Contact Dr. Baetz-Greenwalt.

Dr. Eric Fried, a current Hawken parent, is an Oral Surgeon and an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department at the Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Fried graduated from Miami University in 1987 and from Ohio State University in 1991. He did his residency in oral surgery at the Medical College of Virginia before returning to his native Ohio. Dr. Fried says he knew he wanted to be in dentistry as early as 7th grade.

Dr. Charles King, a current Hawken parent, is an Associate Professor in the Center for Global Health & Diseases and the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Dr. King received his M.D. from State University of New York in 1978 and his M.S. in Biostatistics from University of Michigan in 2000. Dr. Kings interests include clinical epidemiology, ecology of infectious disease, and control strategies for vector-borne and parasitic infections. Contact Dr. King.

Dr. Michael Weiss, Hawken Class of 1975 and a current parent, holds an M.D. from Harvard Medical School and a Ph.D. from Harvard University. Currently a professor and Chairman of Biochemistry at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Dr. Weiss leads a team of researchers in two key areas: control of gene expression, and protein folding and misfolding. Contact Dr. Weiss.
