College Counseling
Message from the Director of College Counseling
Welcome to the College Counseling Office Web page. It is our genuine pleasure to serve as your partners
as you go through the college search and application process.
The college process at Hawken begins formally in January of the junior year. We offer a series of
meetings and workshops throughout the year to keep you informed and on schedule, and we will also
meet with you individually from beginning to end. This Web site is designed to complement the counseling
process, and we hope you will check back regularly to read new announcements and keep current with
important dates and events, to monitor the college representative visit schedule, to read about available
scholarships, and to explore summer opportunities for learning and growth.
As we counsel students and parents through this very exciting time, our emphasis is on making good
matches -- for each student, we hope to identify a group of colleges where his or her interests and
talents will be developed fully. This cannot be done overnight, so students are encouraged to be active
participants in the counseling program and to treat this search as they would any long-term research
project which requires regular attention to complete.
While we hope that you will visit our Web site often to keep updated on the latest news and to answer
many of your questions, we also look forward to our next phone conversation or meeting with you. We
enjoy working personally with each college-bound student, and we are committed to providing the best
possible guidance throughout your college process.
