Individualized Mathematics
Hawken's Individualized Mathematics course provides any student the opportunity to study, at a suitable pace, a subject of his or her own choosing. The course is an excellent opportunity for capable students to accelerate their progress, but can also be quite helpful for students who have experienced difficulty in mathematics and who need individual attention to improve their skills. Prior to the start of classes, students should meet with a math teacher at their school to discuss goals for the summer program. For best results the student should bring a textbook recommended by that math advisor for use in class. In previous summers we have arranged individualized programs in the following areas: middle school mathematics, pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, analytic geometry, introductory calculus, and SAT mathematics. In order to do justice to the title "Individualized Mathematics," this course will be limited to eight students per section. (This is a six-week course.)
