Summer Studies Program
June 16 - July 25, 2008
Hawken Summer Studies is a six-week summer program of credit, review, preview and enrichment classes for students entering grades 6-12. Classes will be held at our upper campus in Gates Mills, with offerings in math, writing, reading, Chinese, Spanish, robotics, photography and health studies. The Summer Studies program is open to students from both public and independent schools.
Conditions of Enrollment
Hawken Summer Studies requires that all students subscribe to the following conditions of enrollment. If a student withdraws during the first week, the School will refund one-half of tuition. If a student withdraws during the second week, the School will refund one-fourth of tuition. No refunds will be made thereafter. In all cases, the registration fee is nonrefundable. Hawken Summer Studies reserves the right to cancel any course for which there is insufficient demand. In order to balance enrollments and ensure reasonably sized classes, it might be necessary to change a student’s selected class times if there are two sections of a course offered.
Pre-Registration
Summer courses are open to students from all schools. Pre-registration is encouraged and allows us to guarantee course offerings at earlier dates, as soon as the enrollment is sufficient. We offer a 10% tuition reduction to those who register by May 1, 2008. This reduced price is listed at the end of each course description.

Financial Aid
Parents of Hawken students who will receive financial aid for the 2008-09 school year should contact the Summer Studies program director about receiving identical percentage discounts for summer classes. We are sorry, but we cannot offer financial aid to students who attend other schools.

May 1: Checks postmarked by this date, 10% discount
Week of June 8: All students receive finalized schedules by mail
June 16: Opening day for Summer Studies
July 25: Final day of Summer Studies
Student Evaluations
Students will receive written evaluations at the completion of all courses. Six-week courses will also provide a mid-term evaluation. Students wishing to have their evaluations and/or grades forwarded to other schools will be provided a written form with which to notify the director.
Academic Credit
Academic credit is granted only as specified in individual course descriptions. Permission to seek academic credit should be cleared through the administration at the student’s school, Hawken or otherwise.
