Hawken is pleased to announce its Lyndurst campus renovation.
Made possible by the generous support of the Hawken community and in recognition of a lead gift by Dan and Ellie Hurwitz, the Lower School building is named Hurwitz Hall, taking a rightful position of honor alongside Lincoln and Bolton Halls.
The renovations provide a classroom environment that facilitates Hawken's innovative curriculum. It also offers additional classroom space to meet increased enrollment demand while keeping class sizes small.
Transformation of the façade matches the Early Childhood Center and Middle School, reflecting the continuity of Hawken programs from preschool through grade 8. Along with new roof lines, a third cupola sits above a renovated Lobby. The addition adds 5,540 square feet of new space to the 2nd and 3rd grade area. Classrooms have windows that look into a signature common space. Additionally, 8,125 square feet was renovated within the Lower School building.
The project construction began mid-February 2013 and was completed in August 2013 for the start of the 2013-2014 academic year.
