Students Remember Martin Luther King, Jr.

Students in all divisions observed the Martin Luther King holiday prior to the holiday weekend by planning and particpating in a number of activities.

At the Gates Mills campus, a group of students organized an assembly to celebrate Dr. King's life and legacy. At the Lyndhurst campus, students shared musical and dramatic performances, engaged in interactive lessons designed by 8th grade Arts Plus students, and visited the Maltz Museum's current exhibit, This Light of Ours: Activist Photographers from the Civil Rights Era.

Reflecting on the day's events, Director of the Middle School Michelle Harris remarked, "One of the most compelling outcomes was the notion that we have a collective and personal responsibility to live ethically and to consider carefully our choices about how we respond to difference or injustice."
